June 2010

Ahoy Spindrift members.

Unbelievable! The spring season is over already. Mother Nature didn't cooperate on the race days, but it doesn't matter, a day on the lake, in my sailboat, with my honey is always great.

Despite the weather, we had a fantastic turnout for the races. The Spindrift racers are die-hards and it shows. I think we had at least 8-10 boats for each race. WOW, have we all learned a lot and gained a huge amount of confidence, the starts of the races are a site to see. Most everyone was right there at the line bucking it out. It's exciting (we have some pictures on the website if you haven't looked lately) we should be posting the results soon and Michael will have the trophies at the next social. Good job everyone.

As you know, we are now into the Summer Series. We are removing the word "race" because we want everyone to join in. This season is full of fun sails. We have the small boat competition, pirate wars, raft ups, maybe a poker run and a long distance sail. If you have not been at the lake for the small boat competition, it's a lot of laughs. If you choose to participate, remember, a smaller boat makes a better sailor. Every movement matters, on the other hand, the sun fish are so easy anyone can sail them AND if something goes wrong, you slide about 6 inches into the water. You probably needed to cool off any. Flip it up and go again.

Pirate wars, well, if you haven't heard yet, the consensus was that we have a few more of these. Tons of fun! Go purchase your bio-degradable balloons, load-em-up and head to the lake for lots of laughs. If you don't have a boat to go out on, we'll load you up on someone else's boat. When more pirates gather on one boat, well.... just ask Larry Rice what happens

Okay, this is getting long. I didn't think I liked to write these, but once I got started...... It's almost like saying Sue is shy and doesn't talk much. Ha! Ha!

Hope to see you at the lake soon. Come join the fun at the best sailing club in Green Country
