July 2009
Ahoy Spindrift members.
We had a large turnout for the June social. Even though the temperature was 103 everyone managed to stay alive and eat a lot of food. Al Poole and James Brown did a great job of grilling the chicken, brats and burgers without passing out from the heat. Doyle and the band played after the social and, as usual, they were fantastic. It's always fun to hear good music and watch people enjoy themselves. Sue and Bill gave out the trophies for the spring series of races, small boat races and the fun sails. Commodore John had some Tulsa Police officers come to the social. He and 5 officers graduated from the Tulsa Police Academy 25 years ago. They had a small party before the social and they brought a large cake to help celebrate. A big round of applause was given by the members to those officers for their years of community service. Don't forget the fireworks show presented by Redbud Marina.
Sail fast and safe, Commodore John, but still a regular guy.
